A one day workshop dyeing a Silk Scarf & a skein of wool yarn - teaching you how to naturally dye your own wool or silk based yarn & fabric using sustainable and Eco friendly methods. You will learn about mordants, the importance of plant knowledge, what your kitchen, garden & local hedgerows have to offer, how to extract dye successfully and having fun doing it!
This is a great workshop for hobby dyers and Beginners alike. No experience is necessary.

Venue: AppleOak FibreWorks Dye House - McLysaght's Units, Unit 1, Raheen Rd, Tuamgraney, Co Clare.

Time: 10am -3pm
All materials are provided on the day and a dyed Silk scarf and a skein of wool yarn will be yours to take home. You will also receive the material we covered in writing on the day, as well as recipes by pdf after the workshop!
Goal: You will feel confident in mordant use, plant collection, dye calculations and how to go about natural dyeing.
The day in detail:
Introduction to plant sources covering foraging, garden, kitchen and imported dyes
Discovering different Mordant methods for protein based fibres, why and how Lunch Break
Learning how to extract and dye with natural dyes
How to Influence Colours, using sustainable ingredients
To bring: An old apron and sturdy footwear (wellies or walking boots), lunch and a mug for tea or coffee. Coffee, tea and herbal teas ,Milk and Oat milk are provided.

- Classes are of 8 participants (Class will go ahead with a minimum of 5 participants)
- Please do not come, if you are unwell, we can organize a 75% refund.
- Mask wearing is optional
- Use provided sanitizer at arrival
- Please bring your own lunch/cutlery and mug
- The shop will be open on the day after the workshop.
