A one day workshop - teaching you how to dye your own yarn & fabric using what is available around you - by learning about mordants and what plants you can use instead of Alum, the importance of plant knowledge, what your kitchen, garden & local hedgerows have to offer, how to extract dye successfully and having fun doing it!

Time: 10am - 5pm
All materials are provided, but if you have yarn/fabric you like to dye, please bring it along.
You will take home some lovely dyed items & Instructions to enable you to do more at home.
The day in detail:
Introduction to foraging local plants safely & responsibly
Setting out to gather local Plant Material/Garden/kitchen dyes
Discovering different Mordant methods and Alum alternatives
Dyeing Yarn/fabric by Extracting dye or contact dye
How to Influence Colours
Lunch will be provided as well as coffee and refreshments. Apart from the bread, the entire lunch will be gluten free. If you have any other allergies, it might be good to bring your own food.
To bring: An old apron and sturdy footwear (wellies or walking boots), waterproofs if the weather is bad.
