A 2 day workshop learning  how to dye natural fibre
You can only bend the rules, if you know them
Natural dyeing is a never ending journey, filled with surprises, wonder and a joy. It is even more enjoyable, when we know, what it is we are actually working with. Don't get me wrong, there will always be surprises, natural dyeing won't let you down, but to know when, why and what to use as a mordant and dye can open up an entire new horizon!
As a professional dyer I feel it is my duty, to make sure, that you know how to use natural dyes properly :) I will be teaching you how to naturally dye your own yarn, fabric & wardrobe using sustainable and Eco friendly methods. You will learn about blue dyeing (indigo), mordants, the importance of plant knowledge, importance of dye plants and why, what your kitchen, garden & local hedgerows have to offer, how to extract dye successfully and having fun doing it! We will cover Protein fibres like wool and Silk on Day 1 and Cellulose fibres like linen, hemp and cotton on day 2.
We will also create two indigo vats, an Organic sugar vat and an Iron Vat and learn how to use and maintain them.
