A one day Block Printing workshop - this is a basic course, teaching you how to print with Mordants using sustainable and Eco friendly methods. You will learn about fabric preparations, mordant printing pastes and Colour application. 

The Natural Dyeing Course 'Basics For Linen & Cotton' would be very beneficial here or a general knowledge of plant dyeing on Linen & Cotton. Do send an email, if you are uncertain. :)

Printing on fabrics naturally can be done in many ways, from eco printing with leaves to screen printing with dye pastes. This workshop will start you off easy by using Mordant pastes, Tannins and Natural Dyes.


    Down Payment option available - Reserve your Spot for 65Euros and pay the remainder of 65Euros on the day.

    Venue: AppleOak FibreWorks Dye House - McLysaght's Units, Unit 1, Raheen Rd, Tuamgraney, Co Clare.

    Date: Saturday, 29th of October 2022

    Time: 10am - 4pm 

    All materials All materials are provided on the day and samples can be taken home. You will also receive the material we covered in writing on the day, as well as recipes by pdf after the workshop!

    The day in detail:

    Introduction to fabric preparation, covering mordants used and how to apply 
    How to make Mordant Pastes, learn how to make and apply mordant pastes 
    Printing by hand, learn how to make and apply prints to fabric 
    How to Influence Colours, using sustainable ingredients


    To bring: An old apron and sturdy footwear (wellies or walking boots), lunch and a mug for tea or coffee. Coffee, tea and herbal teas are provided.


    Covid and other Info:

    • Classes are of 8 participants (Class will go ahead with a minimum of 5 participants)
    • Please do not come, if you are unwell, we can organize a 75% refund.
    • Mask wearing is optional
    • Use provided sanitizer at arrival optional
    • Please bring your own lunch/cutlery and mug
    • The shop will be open on the day after the workshop.
