A Shawl Rooted in Place & Process
Our nettle shawls begin high in the Himalayas, where wild nettle is harvested, retted, hand-spun and hand-knit by artisans working with a fair-trade organisation (WFTO application in progress). Each piece supports remote families through fair income and the continuation of traditional craft.
Once completed, the shawls travel directly to our dye studio in County Clare, where they are carefully scoured and dyed in small batches using rain-harvested water, cold-mordant methods, and a warm, earthy botanical blend of catechu and iron (ferrous acetate).
The result is Dhonn Neantóige — a rich, grounding brown with natural depth and subtle variation that can only come from plant dyes.

Colour Note
Both nettle fibre and botanical dyes vary naturally from batch to batch. As a result, each shawl develops its own uniquely warm, earthy tone.
Your piece will be a close match to the photographed colour, while remaining entirely individual — shaped by fibre, plant pigment and process.
A printed care card is included with every shawl.

Care
Hand wash cold with a pH-neutral soap. Rinse thoroughly, reshape gently and dry flat.
With time and wear, the nettle fibre becomes increasingly soft and supple.
