I am delighted to have our first proper Irish yarn in our new collection: Ériu ~ a unique blend of Romney lambswool and Blue Face Leicester. Chloe and Lionel hand select fleeces from their farm and their network of family-run farms, incentivizing farmers through fair pay to revitalize the declining Irish wool industry in a sustainable way.
Their yarn is the perfect balance between softness and structure. Soft enough for next to skin, yet structured enough to allow magnificent stitch definition. Knit, weave or crochet your own Irish masterpiece with Ériu yarn right from the very heart of Ireland, it is the perfect choice for complex patterns and intricate designs.
To add to the sustainability of the yarn, we have dyed a range of 12 colours using only natural materials like indigo, madder and Weld. Our workshop is run by rainwater, we don't use chemicals or heavy metal mordants. All dye and grey water is filtered with plant and gravel filters and returned to an evergreen woodland, drip fed as an organic fertilizer and final filter. Left over dye matter is composted in our wormery and used to grow our dye plants organically > going full circle.
