This cotton Jersey Tube is a great way of making doll heads. The traditional method of making doll heads can be challenging on the hands this offers a less straining alternative. It is a round-knitted tube of stretchable cotton, which can be made into the base layer of the doll's head by sewing or knotting one end close. After forming a ball out of wool, insert into the tube to start forming the head. For extra sturdy heads a double layer can be used. When the head is in the desired shape tie it shut at the neck.


Available in 1.5cm, 2.5cm, 4cm, 6cm, 8cm, 10cm width.

Natural Wool Fillings for Crafts & Textiles

Soft natural wool fibres suitable for stuffing, filling and textile craft work. These fibres provide loft, resilience and warmth, making them ideal for toys, cushions, dolls and textile projects.

Three wool preparations are available depending on the intended use.

These balls are skin coloured and can be used for making doll heads by using the ball straight off, you can draw and sew easily on it. Further, the balls are soft enough to add eyeline, chin line, and nose using string for binding. You can then insert the ball into the tube made from cotton jersey for a perfect doll head!

Wondering about sizes?

Baby doll (infant): 3 heads tall (because the legs are always curved up!) Total body is about 4 heads tall, but legs look much shorter.

Toddler doll (2 to 4 years old): 4 heads tall

Young Child (5 to 7 years old): 5 heads tall

Older Child (8 to 10 years old): 6 heads tall

Teenager (12+): 7 heads tall

DOLL JERSEY WITH STRETCH – COLOUR 101 PINK

When choosing a skin tone, it often works best to select a slightly darker colour. As the fabric is stretched during making and stuffing, the shade will naturally appear a little lighter.

High-quality double-knit cotton doll jersey with excellent stretch and recovery, ideal for Steiner / Waldorf doll making and other soft sculptural textile work. Knitted in the round for a smooth, seam-free structure that remains opaque when stretched.
