Shipping

We send carefully packed orders from Ireland using An Post tracked delivery. DHL Express is available at checkout for eligible US orders and by quotation for most other destinations. We use plastic-free sustainable packaging.

Republic of Ireland

Shipping is €8.55 on orders below €75, including packaging and VAT. Free tracked shipping applies from €75. Please contact us before ordering if your packed order will weigh more than 20kg.

Northern Ireland, Great Britain and Europe

An Post shipping is calculated at checkout using the destination and packed order weight. Northern Ireland and Great Britain have separate rates. Applicable VAT, packaging and the relevant packaging-compliance allowance are included in the displayed shipping charge.

Automatic international rates are available for packed shipments up to 20kg to the countries and regions enabled at checkout. Mainland Spain and mainland Portugal are included; their island regions, Ceuta and Melilla are excluded. Some small territories and destinations affected by conflict or service disruption are not offered.

United States: choose An Post / USPS or DHL Express

An Post / USPS — duties paid: Lower-cost tracked postal delivery. USPS delivery times and tracking updates can be less predictable. Choose DHL Express if timing is important.

DHL Express — duties paid: Our recommended option for faster, more reliable delivery. The standard rate is €45 up to 1kg, including packaging. The checkout rate for shipments over 1kg and up to 2kg is €65. DHL packaging and dimensions are checked individually for each order.

Remote-area addresses: DHL shipping may cost €65 or more even for a shipment below 1kg. Please email us with your postcode before ordering, if your address may be remote. If an additional shipping charge is needed, we will confirm the cost and obtain your agreement before dispatch. If you do not wish to proceed, we will offer an available alternative or cancel and refund the order.

Import duties, import taxes and associated import-clearance charges for US orders are covered by AppleOak. Our US product prices include an allowance for these costs; they are not added a second time as a percentage of shipping. Delivery times are estimates and may be affected by customs or carrier delays.

Canada, Australia, New Zealand and other enabled destinations

An Post tracked delivery is calculated at checkout by destination and packed weight, up to 20kg. Outside the EU, import duties, taxes and carrier handling fees may be payable by the recipient, except for US orders, which ship duties paid.

DHL Express upgrades

DHL Express is available by quotation for most destinations. Please contact hello@appleoakfibreworks.com before placing your order, with your delivery country, postcode and the items you wish to purchase. We will confirm the cost and arrange your order with the agreed shipping charge. For destinations other than the USA, import duties and taxes may be payable by the recipient.

For orders over 20kg or a destination without a checkout shipping option, please contact us before ordering. A delivery quotation is subject to service availability.

International Returns (Non-EU) — Customs on Returned Parcels

For returns sent from outside the EU (e.g. USA, Canada, UK), please email us before posting so we can provide an RMA and customs wording.

To avoid re-import charges on our side:

Mark the parcel and customs form as:

“Returned goods – failed sale (no commercial value)”

Do not mark the parcel as “merchandise” or “gift”.

Include inside the parcel:

  • a copy of the original invoice

  • your order number

Where possible, use your national postal service rather than courier companies to minimise brokerage fees.

If we are billed import VAT/duty or carrier handling fees because the parcel was incorrectly declared, these costs will be deducted from the refund.

If the return is due to our error or a faulty item, we will cover reasonable return costs — please contact us first.

Returns Caused by Unpaid Import Charges

If a parcel is returned or abandoned because the recipient refused to pay applicable import duties, tariffs or handling fees required by their country, no shipping refund will be issued due to the labour and preparation involved in packing the order.

(This does not apply to US orders, which ship duty-paid.)
