ECO Needle Felting Punching Pad (Purple)

Material/Process: Firm foam made using a vacuum technique with ~50% bio-based raw material, avoiding the conventional chemical foaming agents used in polyurethane pads.

This ECO punching pad is built for needle felting: firm, durable and low-crumb so your work stays clean and your pad lasts longer than soft sponges. The surface resists pilling and “shedding” for far longer, giving you a consistent base for 2D pictures, 3D sculpting and detail work.

Available in 3 sizes (approx.):

• Small: 10 × 15 cm (3.9″ × 5.9″)

• Medium: 20 × 15 cm (7.9″ × 5.9″)

• Large: 20 × 30 cm (7.9″ × 11.8″)

Why ECO?

Traditional punch pads are made from polyurethane using chemical foaming. Our maker uses a vacuum manufacturing process and a raw material that is partly bio-based (~50%), reducing reliance on conventional chemical foaming agents while delivering a firmer, longer-lasting pad.

• Needle-felting bases for flat pictures, appliqué, and sculptural forms

• Shaping parts (ears, limbs, noses) before assembly

• Finishing details without foam crumbs contaminating fibres

Tips & Care

• Rotate the pad periodically to even out wear

• Use on a stable tabletop; keep needles vertical to protect tips

STAR NEEDLE FOUR SIDED Fine (Gauge 38) The higher the Gauge, the finer the needle.

This 38 gauge star 4-sided needle is great when working with fine merino wool. This 4-sided needle has a body with extra barbs, compared to the 3-sided triangular one, which makes the needle felting quicker.

TRIANGULAR NEEDLE rough (32 gauge) The higher the Gauge the finer the needle. 

A good Needle for coarse to medium fine wool, intended for the rapid and overall modeling of a basic shape. This is a good needle for attaching pieces and large surfaces. When working with fine material this needle will create visible punctures.

TWISTED NEEDLE (fine, 40 gauge) The higher the Gauge, the finer the needle.

With this felting needle the barbs are placed on twisted ribs. This allows you to use the entire cross-section of the needle, not just three or four lanes as with a straight-line needle. This makes this needle work more effectively and therefore faster.

TRIANGULAR NEEDLE Fine (Gauge 40) The higher the Gauge, the finer the needle.

Very suitable for finer work, but especially useful, when working with FLAX and HEMP Fibres. The 36 Gauge is a bit too rough for plant fibres, when working with those, go for the finer needles.

TRIANGULAR NEEDLE Extra Fine (Gauge 43) The higher the Gauge, the finer the needle.

Very suitable for finer work, but especially useful, when working with FLAX and HEMP Fibres. For very fine wool, for application work on delicate felt work such as silk and felting very fine details.

 REVERSE NEEDLE (3- sided rough, 32 gauge reverse barb)
The higher the Gauge, the finer the needle.

With this felting needle, the barbs are arranged in the opposite direction. Instead of pushing fibre in, you are pulling fibre out. Great for bushy beards, animal coats, hair and mixing colour.
