A beautifully soft, single-layer gauze made from 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton, naturally dyed in small batches at our studio in Co. Clare, Ireland.
Lightweight and breathable, this versatile muslin has a delicate woven stripe that gives the fabric subtle texture and character. Each piece is individually dyed using traditional natural dyes, resulting in gentle semi-solid shades with the unique variation that only natural colour can create.
Available in a carefully selected range of naturally dyed colours:

Naturally Dyed by AppleOak
Each piece is dyed by hand using traditional natural dyes.
Because natural dyeing is an artisan process, every muslin square is unique. Small variations in shade, depth of colour and natural markings are part of the beauty of working with botanical colour.
Some pieces—particularly the deeper indigo shades—may display characteristic dye markings created during the dyeing process.
If you have a preference for more or fewer natural markings, simply leave a note in the Message to Seller box when ordering. Otherwise, pieces will be selected at random.
Ordering Multiple Pieces
Each unit measures 80 × 80 cm.
If you order multiple units, we can leave them uncut as one continuous length upon request. This creates a beautiful narrow panel with the characteristic check effect created by the woven muslin construction.
Please leave a note with your order if you would like your fabric supplied as one continuous piece.

About the Fabric
Originally developed as a traditional muslin cloth, this lightweight organic cotton is wonderfully soft, breathable and versatile. Its gentle drape makes it equally suited to functional sewing projects and contemporary textile work.
Combined with natural dyes, it becomes a truly unique cloth that celebrates both fibre and colour.
Every piece is naturally dyed by hand and reflects the beauty of working with plant-based colour.
