Himalayan Nettle Fibre

Wild Plant Fibre with Natural Sheen

Himalayan nettle fibre is a unique and eco-friendly plant fibre with a beautiful natural sheen. The fibre is extracted from the stalks of Himalayan nettle plants, which can grow up to three metres high in the mountain regions of Nepal.

After harvesting, the fibres are traditionally extracted and processed by hand. This artisanal process preserves the natural strength and character of the fibre and creates a distinctive plant fibre with a slightly silky appearance.

Himalayan nettle fibres have been used for centuries in traditional textiles and are valued for their strength, durability and natural beauty.

Suitable for

• Hand spinning
• Fibre blending
• Wet felting when blended with wool
• Textile art and fibre crafts

Like other bast fibres, nettle does not felt on its own but bonds well with wool in felted work.
