Linen is often called the European version of silk — and LINON embodies that perfectly. It is a fine, softly woven linen, created from oxygen-bleached fibres, giving it a crisp white finish and a smooth, flowing texture once washed.

While the fabric is slightly stiff at first, a single wash transforms it into a soft, supple cloth that’s easy to work with and beautiful to wear. We recommend prewashing before sewing for the best results.

The Fabric

LINON is light and breathable, woven with delicacy but strong enough for daily wear. It’s not prewashed, so it will shrink and soften as expected after its first wash. At 125 g/m², it’s ideal for light garments and finer textile work.

The Environment

Flax is one of the most sustainable fibres available. It thrives in poor soil with minimal water, and every part of the plant is used — from textiles to linseed oil. Linen is fully biodegradable, renewable, and a beautiful example of low-impact textile production.

Health & Comfort

Linen is naturally antibacterial, breathable, and non-irritating. It’s particularly suited for sensitive skin, and perfect for anyone experiencing heat sensitivity or prone to skin flare-ups in warmer weather.

Care

Linen loves to be washed. Over time, it will soften, relax, and become more beautiful with every wear. Wash at 60–90°C, reduce spin, and hang to dry dripping wet. Avoid ironing — the creasing is part of its natural charm.

LIONA – White European Linen Fabric

I often describe linen as the European version of silk—timeless, breathable, and soft against the skin. LIONA sits comfortably between lightweight and heavy, fine and rustic. It’s slightly heavier than our Linon fabric, making it a better choice for skirts, shirts, and trousers, rather than airy blouses or delicate tops.

This is a classic, white oxygen-bleached linen, full of softness, structure, and versatility. A reliable staple for both clothing and homeware projects.

The Fabric

Woven from 100% European linen, LIONA has a midweight feel and soft white finish. At 190 g/m², it's ideal for structured garments and everyday interior projects. It is not prewashed, so we recommend allowing for around 10% shrinkage after the first wash.

Linen becomes softer and more supple with every wash. LIONA is best washed at 60–90°C on a gentle cycle. Do not iron — its natural creasing is part of its charm and character. Hang or lay flat to dry while still damp. With time, it will mould to the shape of your project and last for years.

FINOLINA – Naturally Dyed European Linen Fabric

Finolina is our signature lightweight linen - refined, breathable, and radiant with natural colour. Woven in Italy from European-grown flax and hand-dyed by us in small batches here in Co. Clare, this fabric celebrates the tradition of natural dyeing with modern precision and care.

Available in three rich botanical shades:

💙 Medium Blue – classic indigo
💧 Light Indigo – soft, washed blue
🌿 Emerald Green – layered tones from indigo & pomegranate

Finolina has a cool, smooth hand and a gentle drape. Slightly narrower due to shrinkage in the dyeing process, it remains perfectly suited for garments and interior projects where natural beauty and material integrity matter.

Finolina is woven from 100% European flax, developed for us in a natural white and dyed entirely in-house using traditional indigo vats and plant-based extracts. This is a fine plain weave with a soft, structured touch—ideal for clothing and refined textile work.

Naturally dyed shades may show subtle variation, giving each fabric a unique, living quality - dyed in 5m lengths.

The Environment

Our Finolina dyes are made from plants—indigo, pomegranate, and other botanicals—using slow, non-toxic methods. We use rainwater harvesting, filtered water, and eco-conscious practices throughout our process. Linen itself is a sustainable fibre: low water use, zero waste, and 100% renewable.

LIOLINA – Textured Natural Linen Fabric

If silk is the queen of the East, linen is surely its European cousin. Liolina is one of my personal favourites — a beautifully textured, slubby-spun linen made from a blend of bleached and natural-coloured yarns. Heavier than most linens in our collection, this fabric has a tactile richness and visual depth that makes it as striking as it is versatile.

Whether used in the dye studio or the sewing room, Liolina lends itself beautifully to bold garments and structured homeware. It's durable, economical, and wonderfully responsive to colour, wear, and time.

The Fabric

Woven from slubby linen yarns — some natural, some bleached — Liolina has a lively character with soft texture and depth. It’s mid-heavy weight, making it ideal for structured garments or substantial decorative pieces. Though not pre-washed, it softens significantly with use and develops the familiar gentle creasing of classic linen.

FINOLINA – Natural White European Linen Fabric

Finolina is a finely woven, lightweight linen made in Italy from European-grown flax, created exclusively for AppleOak FibreWorks. This version is presented in a fresh, natural white- a versatile base for minimalist sewing, botanical printing, natural dyeing, or simply enjoying the clarity of linen in its undyed form.

Finolina has a soft yet structured feel, with a plain weave that drapes beautifully and improves with wear. It is breathable, cool to the touch, and perfectly suited for shirts, skirts, dresses, trousers, and refined home textiles like curtains or cushions.

The Fabric

Finolina is woven in Italy from 100% European-grown flax. It has a cool, smooth hand and a fine, plain weave with just enough body for clothing and furnishings. At 170 g/m², it falls into the light - medium category and softens beautifully with each wash.

Soft, smooth, and naturally understated — LINBIO is a beautifully woven, prewashed organic linen in a gentle natural beige. With a generous width of 275cm, it’s perfectly suited to both homeware and light, breathable summer garments.

Woven from GOTS-certified flax and prewashed for ease of use, LINBIO has a clean, close weave that gives it a refined feel while remaining grounded in its natural roots. A wonderful all-rounder with plenty of possibilities.

The Fabric

LINBIO is made from 100% organically grown flax, with a smooth hand and soft drape. The cloth is prewashed and certified by Ecocert Greenlife (GOTS 268009), making it an excellent choice for both ecological sewing and everyday wear. Its oversized width allows for economical cutting, large-format projects, or pattern-efficient layouts.
