Linen Warp Yarn | Flax Weaving Yarn | Thin & Thick Warp Cones

Strong, crisp linen yarn designed specifically for warp.

This 100% linen warp yarn is spun in Germany from Western European flax. Linen is known for its exceptional strength and crisp behaviour on the loom, producing clean sheds and firm, well-defined woven structures.

While weaving, linen feels slightly wiry and structured. After washing and finishing, the fibres relax and soften, creating the beautiful drape typical of linen fabrics.

The yarn is supplied on 225g cones and is available in three variants.

Available Variants

Variant Count Length Approx. Cone Length
Thin Linen Warp – Natural 6/2 (2-ply) ~300m / 100g ~675m
Thin Linen Warp – Bleached 6/2 (2-ply) ~300m / 100g ~675m
Thick Linen Warp – Natural heavier linen warp approx. 225g cone suitable for heavier fabrics

Suggested Warp Sett (EPI)

These setts provide a starting point. Final sett will vary depending on weave structure and desired fabric density.

Yarn Suggested Sett Suitable Projects
Thin Linen Warp 18–24 epi towels, table linens, scarves
Thick Linen Warp 12–16 epi runners, heavier fabrics

Plain weave structures often require a slightly lower sett, while twills and denser fabrics may benefit from a higher sett.

Working Tips

• Linen warps often benefit from light moisture while weaving
• Maintain consistent tension when dressing the loom
• Sample to determine the ideal sett and finishing method

Care

Wet finishing is recommended. Linen softens and develops its characteristic drape after washing and pressing while retaining its natural strength.
