All AppleOak yarns are made from natural fibres and coloured using traditional natural dyes wherever indicated. We work with wool, alpaca, yak, silk, hemp, ramie, bamboo and nettle — fibres chosen for integrity, longevity and feel.
Our own-brand yarns are dyed in-house using natural colour. We do not use heavy metals or synthetic colour-enhancing chemicals. Where possible, our dyes are organically grown and processed in our studio in Co. Clare.
Natural fibre. Honest colour.
Stockholm is a beautifully simple and satisfying yarn — soft, generous, and designed for knitting that progresses quickly.
Its softly spun single-ply structure creates visible, well-defined stitches and allows garments to grow rapidly on the needles. It is especially well suited for sweaters, accessories, and projects that benefit from warmth and structure.
Soft and easy to handle, Stockholm is ideal for beginners as well as experienced knitters seeking quick, rewarding projects. Its structure also makes it especially suitable for felting.
The wool is sourced from mulesing-free farms in Peru and spun entirely in Peru, ensuring continuity from fibre to finished yarn. Each skein is then naturally dyed at AppleOak FibreWorks using traditional, sustainable natural dye methods and organic dye materials.
Stockholm takes up natural colour beautifully, producing rich, saturated tones with subtle variation.

Each skein is dyed using traditional natural dye methods. Subtle variation between skeins is a natural and valued characteristic of natural dyeing.
For larger projects, we recommend alternating skeins during knitting.
