🌞 INTRODUCTION TO THE ALCHEMY OF CYANOTYPE PRINTING

A playful introduction to the alchemy of cyanotype printing!

This 5-week course is open to both beginners and experienced creatives who want to explore richly detailed textures and botanical prints using cyanotype on both paper and fabric.

Guided by an expert, you’ll learn to work confidently with cyanotype emulsion and discover how to shift colour and build texture using botanical dyes and wet techniques. The course is designed around making together in real time, with space for sharing, feedback, and creative connection throughout.

You don’t need a studio or specialist equipment—just curiosity and a willingness to experiment.

Once you have booked your place, we will guide you into the Academy and provide full course access.

By the end of the course, you will have created a rich collection of unique botanical prints on paper and textile.

This course is a strong foundation for Cyanotype and Natural Dyes, a more in-depth course running later in the year.


🌿 About the Tutor

Ashleigh Ellis is an award-winning eco artist based in Cork, Ireland. Her practice explores life-affirming reflection and creative processes that deepen the relationship between people and the more-than-human world.

Working with plants, natural pigments, textiles, painting and music, she brings a deeply grounded and environmentally conscious approach to her teaching.

She has led The Natural Dye Project Cork for over six years, works with Helium Arts supporting young people with long-term health conditions, and teaches as a guest lecturer on the Eco Art module (MA Arts & Engagement) at Munster Technological University.
