Irish Linen – Oatmeal & Oyster (147–150cm Wide)
This finely woven, lightweight Irish linen is made from oxygen-bleached fibres, giving it a soft natural colour and gently textured flow. Although the fabric arrives unwashed and a little crisp, it softens beautifully with washing and wear. We recommend washing before sewing for best results.
Woven with care and tradition, this linen reflects Ireland’s longstanding reputation for high-quality flax production. A clean, breathable fabric with a subtle sheen, perfect for both garment-making and interior projects.

Linen is one of the most environmentally responsible fibres available. Flax grows in poor soils, requires very little water, and every part of the plant is used — from fibre to seed.
Soft, breathable, and hypoallergenic, linen is excellent for those with sensitive skin or heat sensitivity. It regulates body temperature naturally and is a gentle choice for daily wear.
Linen does not require ironing — its natural creasing becomes part of the garment’s character.
Wash at 60–90°C
Avoid harsh spin cycles
Hang to dry
Softens and strengthens over time
Orders of more than one piece will be cut in one continuous length unless instructed otherwise.

Lightweight Natural Plant Filling
Kapok is a naturally lightweight plant fibre collected from the seed pods of the kapok tree (Ceiba pentandra). The silky floss surrounding the seeds is harvested, cleaned and prepared as a natural filling material.
Kapok fibres are extremely light — around one eighth the weight of cotton — and have natural buoyancy and resilience. The fibre is also naturally moisture resistant and quick drying.
Because kapok fibres are short and brittle, they are not suitable for spinning or felting. Instead, they are widely used as a plant-based filling for cushions, toys and textile projects.
The seed pods of the kapok tree are harvested or collected once they fall from the tree. The pods are opened and the seeds are separated from the surrounding fibre. The fibre is then cleaned and prepared for use.
• Cushion and pillow filling
• Soft toys and dolls
• Upholstery and seat pads
• Meditation cushions
• Draft excluders
• Quilted projects and decorative textiles
Kapok is an excellent vegan alternative to wool or feather fillings.
• 100% kapok seed pod fibre
• Plant-based stuffing fibre
• Fibre origin: Thailand
• Cleaned and prepared in Thailand
• Extremely lightweight natural floss
• Ultra-light
• Naturally moisture resistant
• Quick drying
• Resilient and buoyant
• Plant-based and vegan friendly
40 × 40 cm pillow
• Light fill: approx. 550 g
• Firm fill: approx. 1100 g
Fluff the fibre before use to create even loft.
Fill items in layers and compress gently as you go.
A funnel or wide-neck opening can help when filling smaller items.
Kapok can also be blended with other natural fillings to adjust firmness.
Keep kapok filling inside a removable inner cover where possible.
Air and fluff regularly.
If washing an encased item, ensure it dries completely.
KNITTING FORK KIT WITH OPTIONAL 6mm CHILDREN'S KNITTING NEEDLES
An old Childhood favourite: The KNITTING FORK - also known as Lucet - always has a place in our house on a rainy day or at winding down time and while listening to a story. The long snakes it creates are perfect for imaginary play, from skipping ropes to fishing lines & snakes in the grass to cattle fences. The chunky yarn (Stockholm Range) is naturally dyed by us.
The idea behind this little kit came from my once 5 year old son, who loved knitting with his knitting fork and wanted to give one to his friend as a birthday present. We thought it would be lovely to roll up a few balls too and give it all in a pull string cotton bag to keep it all together. Roisin (Pronounced Ro-sheen) was delighted and two days later my little one received a lovely friendship bracelet from Roisin made by using the knitting fork.
TO MAKE IT MORE INTERESTING FOR 6+YEAR OLD CHILDREN, we have added the option of including a pair of Birchwood Knitting needles. Making it a perfect Starter Pack.
******************************************************************************************
This lovely Kit includes:
4 x 25g of different colours of naturally dyed chunky wool Yarn a total of 100g
1 natural beech wood knitting fork
Straight forward instructions (includes 1 image)
NEW & OPTIONAL: 6mm Children's Knitting Needles
all contained in a Fairtrade organic cotton pull string bag
Some more info:
One ball of naturally dyed yarn will create a rope of almost 4m length and there are 4 balls in the big kit, creating a total of 16m!
The colours can sometimes vary, but generally are as shown as in the pictures. All our chunky Stockholm yarn is naturally dyed by us here in Ireland. If you like to have a look at the yarn, please click here: Stockholm – AppleOak FibreWorks
The yarn is soft and the naturally dyed colors are very pretty.
I enjoyed using the knitting fork. I made a circular trivet out of two strands of flax linen.
Customer service was great.
A beautiful wooden Knitting fork, also known as Lucet, ideal for small hands. Made out of one piece of sustainably harvested beech wood, this Lucet it is sturdy and thick. My children tried it and are delighted with it. It isn't flimsy and the opening is big enough for a chunky cord.

How to use a knitting fork:
1. Put the end of the yarn through the hole, keep hold of it with your thumb.
2. Put 2 'eights' around the two tines of your fork, one 8 on top of the other.
3. Now lift the lower '8' and put it over the '8' on top, one tine at a time, pull gently on the yarn end.
4. Put another '8' around the tines of the fork and repeat step 3.
Repeat step 3 and 4 until you have the desired length.
Made for children's hands, these wooden needles are shorter and have a great grip.

Lac Dye - A Beautiful Violet to Red to Brown Colour
Lac dye is a rich and versatile natural dye, known for its use in the iconic Tibetan Monks’ tunic. Unlike the vivid brightness of cochineal red, Lac produces a more mature, wine-like red tone that evolves from violet to red, and then into a warm brown.
What is Lac?
Lac is a resinous secretion produced by several species of lac insects, with the most commonly cultivated species being Kerria lacca. The cultivation process starts when a farmer attaches a brood lac stick, containing eggs ready to hatch, to a tree. As the insects hatch, they colonise the branches of the host trees and secrete the resin that forms the pigment. The branches are then harvested and processed into stick lac, which is crushed and sieved to remove impurities. The resulting product, seed lac, is further refined to produce shellac.
Colour fastness:
Good to excellent, ensuring lasting and vibrant hues.
Basic Recipe for Dyeing with Lac:
Instructions:
One dye bath can be used to dye multiple skeins of yarn, making this an economical and efficient option for larger projects.
Additional Tip:
For enhanced colour depth, I would recommend a 20-minute vinegar soak after rinsing. This additional step enriches the dyed fibres and ensures a more vibrant finish.

Accessories:

Its light drape and breathable warmth make it perfect for all-year comfort.
• Material: 100% Merino Wool (mulesing-free, single jersey)
• Colour: Cream white
• Width: approx. 140 cm
• Weight: 215 g/m²
• Made in: Italy
• Cutting: Continuous length for multi-unit orders unless instructed otherwise
Merino jersey has a natural stretch and fine knit structure. To avoid twisting seams, align pattern pieces with the knit direction (not the selvedge). Cut single layer if necessary, and use a ballpoint or jersey needle with a light stretch stitch. Finish raw edges neatly or leave them raw for a minimalist, felted edge.
Merino wool thrives with gentle care. Air overnight to refresh between wears — frequent washing isn’t needed. If required, hand wash cold or use a 30 °C wool cycle with mild detergent.
Do not wring; reshape while damp and dry flat.
Avoid tumble drying, bleach or high heat — a light steam is enough to restore shape and softness.
Origin: Italy | Width: approx. 140 cm | Weight: 230 g/m² | 100% mulesing-free merino wool
Orders of several lengths will always be cut continuously, unless instructed otherwise.
This is the essential black wool jersey — a dense, single-knit fabric with the quiet lustre and easy drape of fine merino. Soft on the skin yet reassuringly substantial, LANA NERO is warm, breathable and effortlessly elegant. It dresses up for the office, layers beautifully at the weekend, and brings that just-right comfort you want from knitwear.
Knitted in Italy from 100% mulesing-free merino wool, this medium-weight jersey balances structure with softness. Merino regulates temperature naturally, breathes well and refreshes with a simple airing, so it needs washing far less often than cotton. The surface is smooth, the hand supple, and the black dye is deep and even — a true wardrobe and studio staple.
Clothing:
• Dresses, skirts, shirts and tunics
• Pullovers, twinsets and tops
• Jackets, cardigans and vests
Accessories:
• Scarves, shawls and wraps
• Wrist warmers, hats and beanies
Its balance of body and drape makes it as suitable for everyday pieces as for simple occasion wear.
• Material: 100% Merino Wool (mulesing-free, single jersey)
• Colour: Black
• Width: approx. 140 cm
• Weight: 230 g/m²
• Made in: Italy
• Cutting: Continuous length for multi-unit orders unless instructed otherwise
Wool jerseys can show a slight diagonal knit run from production. To prevent twisting side seams, align pattern pieces with the knit direction rather than the selvedge. For best results, cut large pieces single layer instead of on the fold. Use a ballpoint or jersey needle and a gentle stretch or zigzag stitch to maintain flexibility.
Merino loves fresh air — brush lightly and air overnight between wears. If washing is needed, hand wash cold (or delicate 30 °C wool cycle) with a mild wool detergent. Do not wring; reshape and dry flat.
Avoid tumble drying, bleach, or hot ironing — a light steam or press cloth is plenty.
Lása is a uniquely fine yarn in our range — delicate, luminous, and deeply responsive to natural colour.
Traditionally considered a weaving yarn, its exceptionally fine structure and strength make it equally suited to lace knitting, held double knitting, or carried alongside other yarns to add depth and subtle colour variation.
Its smooth surface allows natural dyes to penetrate deeply, producing rich, saturated colours with beautiful tonal depth whilst remaining softly semi-solid.
Though fine, Lása retains strength and cohesion, making it a joy to work with for lace makers, weavers, and knitters drawn to delicate structures.
The wool is sourced and spun entirely in Peru. Each skein is then naturally dyed at AppleOak FibreWorks using traditional, sustainable natural dye methods and dye materials.
