Western European Linen Fibre
Beautiful long-staple flax fibre combed into a smooth, lustrous top—ready for spinning, needle felting or blending into art batts.
This flax is grown and processed entirely in Western Europe, where the cool climate produces some of the finest linen fibres in the world. The fibre is dew-retted, a traditional process in which moisture and microorganisms gently separate the fibres from the plant stems.
Flax spins best with lightly damp fingertips, allowing the fibres to draft smoothly and producing a strong, elegant linen yarn.
Choose between two preparations:
• Natural flax – unbleached fibre in its natural silver-beige tone
• Bleached flax – clean white linen fibre ideal for dyeing
• Hand spinning
• Needle felting
• Fibre blending
• Textile art and fibre crafts
• Linen yarn production
Flax adds strength, sheen and crisp structure to yarns and textile work.
• 100% flax / linen
• Combed flax top
• Dew-retted fibre
• Colours: natural silver-beige or bleached white
• Grown and processed in Western Europe
• Plastic-free packaging
Hand wash finished items gently and dry flat. Linen fibres soften beautifully with wear and washing.

It is possible to create a vat from indigo, lime (calcium hydroxide) and over-ripe fruit such as bananas or dates that relies on the chemistry of the sugars* rather than fermentation of the fruit. But it’s easier to simply use fructose shared in
Michel Garcia’s 1-2-3 recipe. It’s very simple: One Part indigo, two parts lime and three parts fructose, plus warmth.
*Fructose and glucose found in ripe fruit are reducing sugars; ordinary sugar – sucrose – is not a reducing sugar.
A simple clay base we use for creating Maya Blue in our workshop. It is also used as an inert pigment or filler in paint and other products, as well as in the refining of oils. It is a form of diatomaceous earth.
FUSTIC HARDWOOD ~ Dyer's Mulberry, Old Fustic or Yellowwood
Dye Colour: Yellow and Green | Country of Collection: Unknown (Typically sourced from tropical regions) | Maclura tinctoria or Chlorophora tinctoria
Fustic, introduced to Europe in the 16th century, is a classic natural dye that produces vibrant yellow tones and clear greens when overdyed with indigo. Sourced from the hardwood of the Chlorophora or Morus tinctoria tree, a member of the Mulberry family, Fustic is known for its strength, requiring only 50% of the dye by weight of fibre (W.D.F.). The wood chips used for dyeing are reusable, allowing for multiple dye baths.

Source: Dyer’s Broom (Genista tinctoria)
Genista extract is a bright, water-soluble natural dye derived from the flowering tops of Genista tinctoria, commonly known as Dyer’s Broom. This traditional European dye plant yields clean, sunny yellows that perform beautifully on both protein and cellulose fibres.
The extract dissolves easily in water, making it suitable for immersion dyeing, textile printing, surface design and ink making.
• Flavonoids (primarily luteolin)
• Isoflavones
• Light Shades: Use 2–4% WOF
• Medium Shades: Use 5–8% WOF
• Brighter/Deeper Yellows: Use 8–10% WOF or layer with weld or alum-tannin mordants
• Natural Dyeing of Protein & Cellulose Fibres: Produces vibrant, clear yellows
• Printing & Surface Design: Use in thickened pastes or binder systems
• Ink & Paint Making: Suitable for water-based dye binders or lake pigment preparation
Dyer’s Broom (Genista tinctoria) is a native European shrub historically used in medieval dyehouses for its strong yellow hues. Harvested just before flowering, the tops are processed using a low-impact extraction method to produce a dye suitable for modern natural textile applications.
Medium
This is a soluble dye extract, not a pigment. It is fully water-soluble and ideal for immersion dyeing or printing with gum or starch binders.

GUAR GUM ORGANIC
Use: Printing with Natural Dyes | Botanical Name: Cyamopsis tetragonoloba | Alternative to: Gum Arabic | Alternative Name: Guaran
Guar Gum is derived from organic guar beans and is an essential ingredient in natural dye printmaking. It is used to create a paste that works effectively with mordant dyes , allowing for precise application. Guar Gum thickens as it absorbs liquid, making it ideal for printmaking on textiles. Use a handheld blender or mixer to ensure even dissolution, and adjust the amount as needed for the desired consistency.
Key Features:
Function:
Guar Gum acts as a mordant carrier in natural dyeing. When combined with mordant-based dyes, it forms a rubber-like substance that can be drawn or printed onto fabric. Once dried, the gum must be removed with a Chalk and Wheat Bran solution, followed by a rinse. The fabric is then ready for dyeing. After dyeing, rinse thoroughly and boil with a small amount of organic washing-up liquid.

Strong Natural Plant Fibre
Beautiful, high-quality hemp fibre combed into a smooth spinning top. This degummed hemp roving is ready for spinning and other fibre art projects.
Hemp is one of the oldest textile fibres used by humans and comes from the stems of the Cannabis sativa plant. As a bast fibre, it shares characteristics with flax and ramie: strong, durable and naturally lustrous.
This hemp has been degummed, removing the natural plant gums so the fibre drafts more smoothly when spinning.
You can choose between two variants:
• Natural hemp – soft beige natural fibre colour
• Oxygen bleached hemp – light, clean fibre ideal for dyeing
Hemp fibres produce strong yarns and add durability and structure when blended with other fibres.
• Hand spinning
• Fibre blending
• Textile art and fibre crafts
• Strong plant fibre yarns
• Felting when blended with wool
Like other plant fibres, hemp does not felt on its own but bonds well with wool in felting projects.
• 100% hemp fibre
• Degummed hemp top
• Colours: natural or oxygen bleached
• Strong bast fibre
• Suitable for spinning and fibre blending
Hemp is considered one of the most environmentally friendly textile fibres. The plant grows quickly, requires little irrigation and typically needs fewer agricultural inputs than many other fibre crops.
Finished hemp textiles can be hand washed gently and dried flat. Hemp fibres soften with wear and washing.
Orders of more than one piece will be cut in one continuous length unless instructed otherwise.

Neutral Henna Powder ~ colourless henna. It is also known as Cassia Obovata
Netural Henna is made from pure henna leaves of different quality and neutralized chemicals.
Neutral Henna Powder gives little or no colouring effect. I personally find that it gives a more natural look to lightened hair. It is used for hair conditioning and gives a natural shine & lustre to hair. Safe and free from any side effect, this henna is widely used by those people who desire to benefit from the medicinal uses of henna but do not want to colour their hair.
It also has a powerful antimicrobial and antifungal properties that have been used for centuries to treat common hair and scalp conditions such as lice, dandruff, psoriasis and ringworm.
- Adds volume
- Adds extra shine-
- Makes your hair feel and look thicker
- Deeply conditions and protects your hair
- Strengthens hair strands by filling in the damaged pockets in the follicles
- Elongates curls, giving hair more definition and length
USAGE
Mix ½ cup (50 g) of Neutral henna powder with ¼ cup (59 ml) of warm water. Double quantity for long or full hair. Stir to combine. Once you’ve mixed the powder and water, cover the bowl with plastic and let it develop at room temperature for about 10 minutes.
Apply this paste uniformly on hair with the help of a brush or massage in.
Cover hair with a plastic cap and leave it for around 15 to 20 minutes for a little colour 1-2h.
Rinse off hair with plain water.
HENNA
This henna can also be used for dyeing yarn and hair, as well as for making tattoos. Henna will give you browns, orange/red on hair.
Colourfastness: Medium - good
A little info on Henna from Wikipedia:
Henna (Arabic: حِنَّاء) is a dye prepared from the plant Lawsonia inermis, also known as hina, the henna tree, the mignonette tree, and the Egyptian privet, the sole species of the Lawsonia genus.
Henna can also refer to the temporary body art (staining) based on those dyes (see also mehndi). Henna has been used since antiquity to dye skin, hair and fingernails, as well as fabrics including silk, wool and leather. Historically, henna was originally used in Egypt and then the Arabian Peninsula, Indian Subcontinent, parts of Southeast Asia, Carthage, other parts of North Africa and the Horn of Africa. The name is used in other skin and hair dyes, such as black henna and neutral henna, neither of which is derived from the henna plant.

Cut Horse Chestnut Bark is a lesser-known but valuable source of natural tannins, especially effective for cellulose fibre preparation, natural greys with iron, and historical dye practices. This bark contains condensed tannins, making it well suited for textile work on both plant and animal fibres.
Our bark is coarsely cut and ideal for slow dyeing, decoctions, or tannin-rich soaks. It can be used alone or combined with other tannins or metal salts for complex tones and improved mordant adhesion.
• Condensed tannins
• Flavonoids
• Saponins (minor)
• 20–80% WOF for decoction or fibre soak
• Simmer for 1 hour or soak overnight
• Use hot or cool for varied tones
• Pre-treatment of Cellulose Fibres – improves mordant take-up
• Iron Modification – yields soft greys and warm browns
• Natural Dyeing – use alone or as a tannin base
• Historical Dye Methods – suitable for re-enactment dyeing and archival processes
Horse chestnut is a deciduous tree native to southeastern Europe, now naturalised across Ireland and the UK. Its bark has long been used in folk medicine and traditional dyeing for its tannin content and gentle tones. When modified with iron, it reveals subtle grey-browns, ideal for grounding brighter botanical colours.
Medium to High (when used with a mordant)
• Coarse-cut bark
• Not water-soluble; requires simmering or soaking
🌿 Tip: Combine with iron sulphate for muted greys, or use as a base layer in multi-step dyeing on cellulose fibres.

Their extra length allows you to stitch longer, sweeping lines with ease — making them perfect for decorative borders and traditional patterns.
Huck embroidery, also known as Swedish weaving, is a beautiful needlework technique that combines surface embroidery with weaving on huck fabric — often used to embellish table linens, towels, and home décor.

HYDROS – REDUCING AGENT FOR INDIGO / WOAD VATS
Chemical name: Sodium Dithionite (Thiox) | Grade: Textile | Use rate: ≤ 25 g per 10 L vat
Hydros—also known as sodium dithionite, thiox, or hydrosulfite sodium—is the fast, reliable oxygen remover used to bring indigo or woad vats into reduction. A quick sprinkle over the surface turns the liquor a yellow-green and readies it for dipping within about an hour. However, for best performance leave the vat for 2 days before dyeing.
Why choose our Hydros
• Consistent, high-purity powder for rapid vat activation
• Cost-effective alternative to spectralite (use a little more, save a lot)
• Fine, free-flowing granules supplied in a resealable pouch
Directions (10 L vat)
Set vat at 40 °C with indigo/woad and alkali already dissolved.
Sprinkle 25 g Hydros evenly over the surface. Always add Hydros to water—never water to Hydros.
Cover and wait ± 60 min. Vat should shift to yellow-green with a metallic film.
Stir gently, keeping air out, then begin dipping.
In a nutshell
• Function: Oxygen remover / vat reducer
• Other names: Sodium dithionite, thiourea dioxide, thiox, hydrosulfite sodium
• Compatibility: Indigo, woad, other vat dyes
• Typical dose: 2–5 g · L⁻¹ (max. 50g per 10 L)
• Packaging: Resealable moisture-proof pouch
• Safety: Wear gloves & mask; store cool & dry away from acids and oxidisers
Safety & storage
Keep sealed, cool and dry. Avoid inhalation of dust. Add powder to water—never the reverse—to prevent rapid exothermic reaction. Dispose of spent vats according to local regulations and keep away from children.

Dye Colour: Yellow and Orange | Botanical: Tagetes patula | Grown & Dried in Ireland
Bring the warmth of summer to your fibre work with our hand-harvested African Tagetes flowers (Tagetes patula), grown and dried in County Clare, Ireland. These marigold-like blossoms yield rich yellow and orange hues ideal for natural dyeing.
Unlike Tagetes erecta, this smaller-flowered variety is more delicate in shape, making it well suited to both dye extraction and eco-printing, as well as bundle dyeing. Its accessible petal structure makes it a favourite for surface design artists - though the pressed or fresh versions would work better.
🌼 Limited availability – grown in small batches using ecological methods.

SUITABILITY
Over the past year, I have noticed that many crafters use natural dye kits to dye Cotton, linen and other plant based fibres. Unknown to them, the mordanting instructions used for Wool or Silk are unsuitable for plant based fibres and often will result in pale, short lasting colours.
We have remedied that with our collection of ever growing dye kits and stand alone dye recipes. You can now choose the dye kit according to your fibre need ~ protein (wool & other animal fibres) or plant based fibres (linen, hemp, cotton)
****************************
The DYE Kit makes a lovely present too - well packaged in recyclable cardboard, the dyes come in resealable stand up bags and the recipe is printed on strong booklet paper, which can be reused again and again.
What you will receive in this Kit:
Full and reusable Dyeing instructions
How to care for your plant dyed things care card
15g Indigo, 25g Soda Ash, 25g Hydros ~ all packaged in resealable stand up bags
