Beautiful Wensleydale wool in combed top form.

At 31 microns, this is a coarser fibre with long, smooth, lustrous locks. It produces strong, characterful textures and is especially suited to transparent and lightweight felt surfaces.

When felted in thin layers, this exclusive wool creates particularly translucent felt with a lively, expressive surface. Ideal for wall pieces, light objects, and textile installations.

About Combed Top

Combed top is a smooth, long-fibre preparation. The raw wool is first carded to loosen and align the fibres while removing impurities. The fibre strands are then drawn through a fine comb to remove short fibres, resulting in long, parallel fibres with a smooth, lustrous finish.

This preparation gives strength, shine, and clarity to both spun yarn and felted surfaces.

About Micron

Fibre fineness is measured in microns (µm), referring to the diameter of each fibre. The lower the number, the finer and softer the wool. At 31 microns, Wensleydale is coarser and more structural, making it ideal for texture and translucent effects rather than next-to-skin garments.

Flax Top Fibre Roving

Western European Linen Fibre

Beautiful long-staple flax fibre combed into a smooth, lustrous top—ready for spinning, needle felting or blending into art batts.

This flax is grown and processed entirely in Western Europe, where the cool climate produces some of the finest linen fibres in the world. The fibre is dew-retted, a traditional process in which moisture and microorganisms gently separate the fibres from the plant stems.

Flax spins best with lightly damp fingertips, allowing the fibres to draft smoothly and producing a strong, elegant linen yarn.

Choose between two preparations:

• Natural flax – unbleached fibre in its natural silver-beige tone
• Bleached flax – clean white linen fibre ideal for dyeing

Stonesheep Carded Fleece – 11 Colours

Medium-Fine Wool | Strong, Durable Felt | Needle & Wet Felting

A beautifully dyed, medium-fine carded fleece blend designed for strong, reliable felt.

This fibre combines 50% Stone Sheep with 50% mulesing-free New Zealand Merino. Each colourway is a melange (heathered) blend of dyed fibre mixed with naturally dark brown or black wool, creating depth, shadow, and a more dimensional finished surface.

The result is a robust felt with visible fibre movement and rich colour variation.

Ramie Roving

Strong Natural Fibre from the Nettle Family

Ramie is a beautiful plant fibre derived from the ramie nettle (Boehmeria nivea), a traditional textile plant used for thousands of years in Asia.

The fibre is naturally white with a silky lustre and shares many characteristics with flax/linen. Ramie fibres are extremely strong, highly absorbent and take dye beautifully.

Compared with flax, ramie is slightly coarser but ramie fibres are naturally very long and strong. After processing into roving the staple length is typically around 6–15 cm, making it suitable for spinning and fibre blending.

Ramie can also be used in fibre art and textile projects such as doll hair or decorative fibre work.

Ramie does not felt on its own but bonds well with wool when incorporated into felted work.

Hemp Roving

Strong Natural Plant Fibre

Beautiful, high-quality hemp fibre combed into a smooth spinning top. This degummed hemp roving is ready for spinning and other fibre art projects.

Hemp is one of the oldest textile fibres used by humans and comes from the stems of the Cannabis sativa plant. As a bast fibre, it shares characteristics with flax and ramie: strong, durable and naturally lustrous.

This hemp has been degummed, removing the natural plant gums so the fibre drafts more smoothly when spinning.

You can choose between two variants:

• Natural hemp – soft beige natural fibre colour
• Oxygen bleached hemp – light, clean fibre ideal for dyeing

Hemp fibres produce strong yarns and add durability and structure when blended with other fibres.

Bheda wool is a versatile felting wool available in a wide range of rich, vibrant colours.

This wool combines the best characteristics of several sheep breeds including Ryeland, Suffolk, Shetland, Romney and Jacob, resulting in a balanced fibre that felts easily and creates smooth, durable felt.

The wool originates from New Zealand sheep farms and is guaranteed mulesing-free.

Each colour is dyed by hand using safe Swiss dyes, creating a palette of beautiful colours suitable for both beginners and experienced fibre artists.

Ethical Production

Bheda wool is dyed in a workshop that provides employment opportunities for underprivileged women, supporting socially responsible production and fair working conditions.

Batch Differences

Because Bheda wool is dyed using traditional hand-dyeing methods, slight colour differences between batches may occur.

Tussah Silk Roving

Natural Tussah silk roving with a softly textured character and gentle natural sheen. Tussah silk is a wild silk fibre produced by oak-feeding silk moths, whose cocoons yield the naturally warm honey and ivory tones typical of this fibre.

Unlike mulberry silk, Tussah cocoons are often collected only after the moth has naturally emerged. Because of this, the silk is frequently referred to as “vegetarian silk.” The emergence of the moth breaks the continuous filament, resulting in a shorter staple fibre that is spun or prepared as roving.

Tussah silk is slightly less smooth and glossy than mulberry silk, but it brings beautiful character, warmth and natural sheen to yarns and fibre blends. The fibre is also lighter and fluffier to the touch, making it very pleasant to spin and blend.
