Our camel hair roving is wonderfully soft, with all coarse fibres removed to leave only the fine, downy undercoat. With an approximate fineness of 20 microns, it is comparable to merino in feel — smooth, warm and gentle on the skin.
Camel down drafts beautifully. It naturally keeps your hands dry while spinning, preventing the fibre from clumping and allowing it to flow smoothly from your hand.
Camel hair can also be used for felting, though it performs best when blended with wool for added structure.
Material: 100% Camel Hair (soft undercoat only)
Micron: ~20 mic
Colour: Natural light brown / fawn / hazelnut
Preparation: Combed roving
Uses: Spinning, blending, needle felting (with wool), wet felting (with wool)
Hand wash finished items gently in lukewarm water. Avoid agitation and sudden temperature changes.
As a natural fibre, shades may vary slightly between batches. Also, if used for felting always blend with sheep wool.
