NETTLE SHAWL – GORM DORCHA
100 % Nettle Fibre | Hand-knit in Nepal | Naturally Indigo-Dyed in Ireland

Our nettle shawls begin high in the Himalayas, where wild nettle is harvested, retted, hand-spun and hand-knit by artisans working with a fair-trade organisation (WFTO application in progress). Finished shawls travel directly to our Co.Clare dye house, where we scour and colour them in small batches using only rain-harvested water, cold-mordant techniques and natural indigo pigment.

Colour note: This latest indigo run is a touch deeper than our first release ~ an inherent hallmark of small-batch natural dyeing. Your shawl’s exact shade is one of a kind.

A printed care card comes with every piece.

WHY IT’S SPECIAL

100 % nettle fibre – gathered, spun and knit entirely by hand.
Fair-trade supply chain – secure income for remote Nepalese families.
Batch-dyed in small quantities in Co. Clare – personal attention and even colour.
Low-energy, closed-loop studio – rain-water process, alum & iron only; filtered rinse water feeds our woodland, dye solids become worm-farm compost.
Naturally unique – slight variations in size and stitch; like linen, nettle softens beautifully with wear.
Indigo depth – plant-based indigo yields rich, light-fast blues without synthetic dyes.
Care card included – easy washing & storage tips in every parcel.
