Tussah (Wild) Silk Warp — 6-Ply, Nm 70/3×2

This warp-grade tussah silk (often called vegetarian/peace silk) is built from six twisted strands for a yarn that’s delicate in hand yet reliably strong under tension. It dresses cleanly on the loom and doubles beautifully as a fine sewing/embellishment thread for fibre projects.

Cone only: due to its fineness, this silk cannot be wound into centre-pull balls.

Lengths & format

  • Per 250 g cone:2,915 m / 3,187 yds

Why weavers love it

  • Strong, smooth warp with tidy sheds

  • Gorgeous silk lustre & drape in the finished cloth

  • Excellent for supplementary warp/weft, fine fabrics and detail work

Suggested uses

  • Fine scarves, shawls, veils & heirloom cloth

  • Supplemental warp, leno/lace effects

  • Sewing/embellishment (hand or machine; use fine needle)

Working tips

  • Keep tension even; wind warps carefully to avoid twist loss

  • Use a fine reed/sett and sample to dial in beat & finish

  • For sewing/embellishment, shorten stitch length and use a sharp microtex or silk needle
