EUROPEAN MERINO WOOL ~ Small farm production, Europe only productions, dyed to high oekotext standards in Switzerland.
This European Merino Wool 27 micron wool roving is available in 60 trendy colours including 10 trendy mixed colours. This wool is dyed with synthetic dye from Switzerland according to the standards of Oeko-Tex 100 and EU Ecolabel for textile products.
This soft wool is produced in Europe, closer to home than your regular merino wool! The wool is produced on small farms in Europe and is mulesing free.
This European Merino Wool roving is a soft, voluminous and affordable all-round wool. It is great for wet felting as well as for needle felting, spinning and of course for XXL chunky knitting. All fibers align in the same direction and the roving has a regular thickness, making it an easy wool to knit with.
Wool is usually sold per weight. But sometimes you want to know how long the wool roving is. We have calculated the roving length of the different packages below:
Please note that this is an approximation. The length can vary per type of wool, per colour or per production. And the harder you pull, the longer the roving becomes.
Would you want to make sure you get the wool roving in one piece?
We try our best to deliver the roving in one piece. But please count in that even when we try our best we don’t always succeed. Sometimes we have no choice but to deliver the desired quantity in two or more pieces.
All you need for January & February is in this bundle!

(Persicaria tinctoria / Japanese Indigo)
Dye Colour: Blue (Indigo) | Produced in Ireland
Persicaria tinctoria, commonly known as Japanese Indigo, is a fast-growing annual prized by natural dyers for its high indigo content and reliability in temperate climates. Its vibrant green leaves are the source of rich blue indigo pigment, suitable for fresh-leaf dyeing, pigment extraction, and traditional Sukumo vats.
A cornerstone plant for natural dye gardens, Persicaria produces clear, vibrant blues when grown well and harvested at the right moment. It is very frost sensitive and should be protected with horticultural fleece if late frosts occur after planting out.
Dye Fastness: Excellent (with proper indigo processes)
Sowing period:
Indoor sowing mid-March to mid-April
Direct sow outdoors from mid-May, once frost risk has passed
Germination time: 7–14 days
Height: 60–90 cm (24–36 in)
Preferred location:
Full sun to light shade; fertile, consistently moist but well-drained soil
Climate note:
Frost and wind sensitive — sheltered planting improves growth and pigment yield
Harvest leaves when plants reach 40–50 cm, up to 2–4 times during the growing season, allowing fresh regrowth between cuts. For fresh-leaf dyeing or pigment extraction, leaves should be processed as soon as possible after harvesting to retain colour strength.
This is a white-flowered variety that produced the highest pigment yield in our 2024 Persicaria variety trials, which compared seven different types grown in Ireland. It was also the earliest flowering variety, making it particularly suitable for outdoor seed saving in Ireland in most years.
(See the final product image for trial results — this variety is shown as Sample No. 5.)
Open-pollinated & organically grown in Ireland
Germination rate: 85%
Irish seed licence: IE010713
Approx. 25 seeds per packet
Please note: Seeds and plants can only be shipped within Europe.

Source: Kapok tree (Ceiba pentandra)
Kapok is a naturally moisture-resistant, quick-drying, resilient and buoyant fibre collected from the seed pods of the kapok tree. The floss is exceptionally lightweight (around one-eighth the weight of cotton) and inelastic/brittle, which makes it unsuitable for spinning, but perfect as a vegan, plant-based filling.
Pods are harvested (cut from the tree or collected after they fall), opened, and the seed and fibre are separated by hand. The fibre is then loosened and ready to use.
Stuffing & Filling:
• Cushions & pillows • Soft toys & dolls • Upholstery & seat pads • Meditation cushions • Draft excluders • Quilted projects & decor
Vegan alternative:
Ideal for anyone who prefers a plant-based filling or reacts to sheep’s wool.
16×16″ (40×40 cm) pillow:
• Light/lofty: ~550 g
• Firm/solid: ~1100 g
Fluff/tease before use for even loft.
Fill in layers, compressing gently as you go.
Use a funnel or wide-neck opening for small items.
Can be blended with other natural fillings to adjust feel (keep blends vegan if desired).
Material: 100% kapok seed-pod fibre (plant-based)
Properties: Moisture-resistant, quick-drying, resilient, buoyant, ultra-light
Spin/Felt: Not suitable for spinning or felting (inelastic floss)
Best for: Stuffing cushions, dolls, toys, upholstery & more
Keep filling inside a removable inner for easy maintenance.
Air and fluff regularly.
Spot clean where possible; if washing an encased item, ensure thorough drying.
Store dry and away from sparks/heat sources.

Lac Dye - A Beautiful Violet to Red to Brown Colour
Lac dye is a rich and versatile natural dye, known for its use in the iconic Tibetan Monks’ tunic. Unlike the vivid brightness of cochineal red, Lac produces a more mature, wine-like red tone that evolves from violet to red, and then into a warm brown.
What is Lac?
Lac is a resinous secretion produced by several species of lac insects, with the most commonly cultivated species being Kerria lacca. The cultivation process starts when a farmer attaches a brood lac stick, containing eggs ready to hatch, to a tree. As the insects hatch, they colonise the branches of the host trees and secrete the resin that forms the pigment. The branches are then harvested and processed into stick lac, which is crushed and sieved to remove impurities. The resulting product, seed lac, is further refined to produce shellac.
Colour fastness:
Good to excellent, ensuring lasting and vibrant hues.
Basic Recipe for Dyeing with Lac:
Instructions:
One dye bath can be used to dye multiple skeins of yarn, making this an economical and efficient option for larger projects.
Additional Tip:
For enhanced colour depth, I would recommend a 20-minute vinegar soak after rinsing. This additional step enriches the dyed fibres and ensures a more vibrant finish.

Breathable, hypoallergenic, and anti-static, linen is an excellent choice for sensitive skin, particularly in warmer weather. It helps regulate temperature and supports overall comfort, especially for those experiencing heat sensitivity or skin irritation.
Linen thrives with gentle use. Wash at 60–90°C with reduced spin, then hang to dry dripping wet. Over time, the fabric will soften further and mould to the body or form with ease. Avoid ironing — the creases are part of the charm and structure of this naturally elegant fabric.
Origin: Italy | Width: approx. 140 cm | Weight: 215 g/m² | 100% mulesing-free merino wool

• Weight: 215 g/m²
• Made in: Italy

Merino jersey has a natural stretch and fine knit structure. To avoid twisting seams, align pattern pieces with the knit direction (not the selvedge). Cut single layer if necessary, and use a ballpoint or jersey needle with a light stretch stitch. Finish raw edges neatly or leave them raw for a minimalist, felted edge.
Merino wool thrives with gentle care. Air overnight to refresh between wears — frequent washing isn’t needed. If required, hand wash cold or use a 30 °C wool cycle with mild detergent.
Do not wring; reshape while damp and dry flat.
Avoid tumble drying, bleach or high heat — a light steam is enough to restore shape and softness.
Origin: Italy | Width: approx. 140 cm | Weight: 230 g/m² | 100% mulesing-free merino wool
Orders of several lengths will always be cut continuously, unless instructed otherwise.
This is the essential black wool jersey — a dense, single-knit fabric with the quiet lustre and easy drape of fine merino. Soft on the skin yet reassuringly substantial, LANA NERO is warm, breathable and effortlessly elegant. It dresses up for the office, layers beautifully at the weekend, and brings that just-right comfort you want from knitwear.
Knitted in Italy from 100% mulesing-free merino wool, this medium-weight jersey balances structure with softness. Merino regulates temperature naturally, breathes well and refreshes with a simple airing, so it needs washing far less often than cotton. The surface is smooth, the hand supple, and the black dye is deep and even — a true wardrobe and studio staple.
Clothing:
• Dresses, skirts, shirts and tunics
• Pullovers, twinsets and tops
• Jackets, cardigans and vests
Accessories:
• Scarves, shawls and wraps
• Wrist warmers, hats and beanies
Its balance of body and drape makes it as suitable for everyday pieces as for simple occasion wear.
• Material: 100% Merino Wool (mulesing-free, single jersey)
• Colour: Black
• Width: approx. 140 cm
• Weight: 230 g/m²
• Made in: Italy
• Cutting: Continuous length for multi-unit orders unless instructed otherwise
Wool jerseys can show a slight diagonal knit run from production. To prevent twisting side seams, align pattern pieces with the knit direction rather than the selvedge. For best results, cut large pieces single layer instead of on the fold. Use a ballpoint or jersey needle and a gentle stretch or zigzag stitch to maintain flexibility.
Merino loves fresh air — brush lightly and air overnight between wears. If washing is needed, hand wash cold (or delicate 30 °C wool cycle) with a mild wool detergent. Do not wring; reshape and dry flat.
Avoid tumble drying, bleach, or hot ironing — a light steam or press cloth is plenty.

Sold in continuous quantities where possible. Please leave a note if you'd like skeins packed separately or unlabelled.
A naturally resilient and beautifully functional yarn. Our lanolin-rich virgin wool yarn is spun from 100% Peruvian wool and rebalanced with lanolin after spinning—offering softness, structure, and a subtle water-resistant quality.
It retains the gentle, breathable texture of untreated wool while being particularly suitable for babywear, accessories, and traditional knitting projects like soakers or nappy covers.
This yarn is a staple for those who love texture, warmth, and authenticity in their work.
A classic 2-ply yarn with a lightly springy handle and the quiet richness that comes from wool left close to its natural state. Though the lanolin is removed during industrial spinning to prevent static buildup, it is carefully added back in to restore softness and improve performance.
Every stage of this yarn’s life—from sheep husbandry and shearing, to scouring, spinning, and finishing—is carried out entirely in Peru. This fully localised process ensures high-quality standards, reduces environmental impact, and supports skilled workers and traditional knowledge across the fibre chain.
This yarn knits with a soft rustic feel and offers natural elasticity and structure—suiting both textured stitches and simple stockinette. Its added lanolin gives it excellent moisture resistance, making it ideal for items worn close to the body or in damp conditions.

Lása Bán~ Wool yarn undyed
Lása is an unusual addition to our yarn range and should strictly speaking be on the weaving page. It is considered a weaving yarn and I always feel like getting loom every time I look at it! The colour uptake of this yarn is unreal ~ incredibly deep and satisfied colours, though still being semi solids. Lása can be added as an additional yarn to thicken a thin yarn or even held double, though it is very fine. For the lace maker a joy to work with and anyone else who enjoys delicate knits.
Lása is made from 100% pure wool. The yarn is fully processed in Peru, from raising and shearing of the sheep to the finished yarn.
Once done, we apply the final colour touch, using only sustainable, no impact dyeing methods and organic ingredients. Lása is a joy to dye and it has a beautiful saturated, deep, yet semi solid, colour uptake.
In a nutshell:
Weight: 100g = 3.5 oz skeins
Meterage: 1000m = 1093yards = 2ply lace yarn
Suggested Knitting Needles: 2-3mm (metric needle size) = Size 3-4 (USA)
