This European Merino Wool 27 micron wool roving is available in 60 trendy colours including 10 trendy mixed colours. This wool is dyed with synthetic dye from Switzerland according to the standards of Oeko-Tex 100 and EU Ecolabel for textile products.
Responsibly Produced
This soft wool is produced in Europe, closer to home than your regular merino wool! The wool is produced on small farms in Europe and is mulesing free.
Perfect for Felting, Spinning and Knitting
This European Merino Wool roving is a soft, voluminous and affordable all-round wool. It is great for wet felting as well as for needle felting, spinning and of course for XXL chunky knitting. All fibers align in the same direction and the roving has a regular thickness, making it an easy wool to knit with.
How long is this roving?
Wool is usually sold per weight. But sometimes you want to know how long the wool roving is. We have calculated the roving length of the different packages below:
- 50 grams = approx. 2 meters
- 250 grams = about 10 meters
- 1 kilo = about 40 meters
- Bump of 4.5 kilos = approx. 180 meters
Please note that this is an approximation. The length can vary per type of wool, per colour or per production. And the harder you pull, the longer the roving becomes.
Would you want to make sure you get the wool roving in one piece?
We try our best to deliver the roving in one piece. But please count in that even when we try our best we don’t always succeed. Sometimes we have no choice but to deliver the desired quantity in two or more pieces.

A simple, relaxed sheath dress with a flattering V neckline, Rusticana is the sort of garment you will want to live in all season long. Knit it in Apple Oak Fibre Works rustic spun Lincot, for a lightweight and durable dress that will keep you cool in summer. Or choose a woolly DK to aran weight yarn for a cozy winter knit. The basic design works especially well for showcasing unevenly spun yarns, yarns with textural interest, and yarns with dramatic colour variegation. Suitable for advanced beginners. ~ Designed by Ailbíona McLochlainn

SAFFLOWER DYE
SAFFLOWER DYE (Carthamus tinctorius)
Dye Colour: Soft Yellow and Red | Country of Collection: Iran
Safflower, a thistle-like plant native to arid environments, offers a stunning soft yellow and red dye, making it a great choice for dyeing natural fibres like linen and cotton. While it produces a warm red, the process to extract this colour is intricate, requiring extended soaking, kneading, and rinsing. By adjusting the pH and repeating these steps, you can achieve a richer red tone on plant-based fibres. This lengthy process is well worth the effort for those seeking vibrant hues, especially for linen, cotton, and other plant fibres.
Colour Fastness: Poor to Medium
Colour Outcomes by WOF Ratio:
- 100% WOF Dye (Safflower): Soft yellow tones for protein fibres.
- After removal of the yellow dye: Richer red tones for plant-based fibres.
Basic Recipe for Yellow:
Ingredients:
- 100g Safflower
- 100g mordanted yarn/fibre (Alum 15g)
Instructions:
- Soak the Safflower dye in water overnight.
- Bring the dye pot to a simmer for 1 hour.
- Strain the dye through cloth and add mordanted yarn or fibre to the dye bath.
- Simmer for 1 hour and rinse to reveal a soft yellow colour.
Notes:
- Yellow is ideal for protein fibres, red for cellulose only.
- For richer red tones: Repeat soaking, kneading, and rinsing in a high pH environment.
- Safflower produces a softer, warm yellow dye but can yield red after more intensive preparation.
Embrace the natural beauty of Safflower dye and create stunning, soft yellow and red tones for your textile or paper projects.

SUITABILITY
Over the past year, I have noticed that many crafters use natural dye kits to dye Cotton, linen and other plant based fibres. Unknown to them, the mordanting instructions used for Wool or Silk are unsuitable for plant based fibres and often will result in pale, short lasting colours.
We have remedied that with our collection of ever growing dye kits and stand alone dye recipes. You can now choose the dye kit according to your fibre need ~ protein (wool & other animal fibres) or plant based fibres (linen, hemp, cotton)
****************************
The DYE Kit makes a lovely present too - well packaged in recyclable cardboard, the dyes come in resealable stand up bags and the recipe is printed on strong booklet paper, which can be reused again and again.
What you will receive in this Kit:
Full and reusable Dyeing instructions
How to care for your plant dyed things care card
100g Sage, 30g Alum, 5g Iron ~ all packaged in resealable stand up bags
SAHALA ~ Lightly Textured White Linen Fabric
SAHALA – Lightly Textured White Linen Fabric
Origin: Italy | Width: Approx. 150 cm
Orders of more than one piece will be cut in one continuous length unless instructed otherwise.
I like to describe linen as the European version of silk—light, breathable, elegant, and made from one of the oldest and most sustainable fibres we know.
SAHALA is a fine, softly woven white linen with a subtle sheen and a beautifully mottled effect, created by weaving natural, undyed linen yarns in slightly different tones. The result is a timeless, light-catching fabric that works beautifully in garments and soft interiors alike.
The Fabric
Woven in Italy using 100% natural linen, this cloth has a soft hand and gentle structure. Linen holds shape, breathes easily, and gets softer over time—making it ideal for both summer wear and long-lasting home use.
Uses
Clothing:
• Summer skirts and dresses
• Blouses and shirts
• Lightweight layering pieces
Homeware & Crafts:
• Curtains
• Soft interiors and decorative projects
In a Nutshell
• Material: 100% Linen
• Width: Approx. 150 cm
• Weight: 170 g/m²
• Colour: White & beige (mottled, undyed tones)
• Shrinkage: 3–5%
• Wash: 40°C, mild detergent, gentle spin
• Hang to dry dripping wet
• Italian production
• Cut in continuous length unless instructed otherwise
The Environment
Linen is one of the most sustainable fibres available. Flax grows well in poor soil and needs very little water. Every part of the plant is used—textile fibre, oil, paper, and more. This makes it a low-waste, low-impact fabric that’s both beautiful and responsible.
Health & Comfort
Linen is gentle on sensitive skin and helps regulate body temperature—especially helpful for those prone to heat irritation or hot flushes. Like silk, it’s naturally breathable and antibacterial, making it a perfect fabric for warmer weather or close-to-skin use.
Care
Linen gets better with age. It loves to be washed and softens over time. The natural creasing is part of its charm and structure—no ironing needed. It dries quickly, holds its shape, and outlasts many other natural fibres in durability.
